These garments were a full representation of bold colors, vibrance, and loose free-flowing fabrics, a collection that adds a touch of summer breeze whilst sitting poolside on a sunny evening. This collection was a reckoning, a release,” Geoffrey said.

Audiences and buyers alike couldn’t be more glad that Geoffrey unleashed his creativity in this collection. With joyous colors and striking cuts, Geoffrey’s designs are sure to capture the hearts of viewers and uplift their spirits. “I want viewers to evoke emotions of pure happiness as the vibrant colors pop off of the screen. I want them to feel how the fabric falls on the body, so they can see themselves in those garments,” Geoffrey said.

Elon Musk’s Wealth Widens The Gap Over Jeff Bezos’ As World’s Richest Person

Elon Musk’s personal wealth is now US$222 billion ($302 billion), widening his gap as the richest person in the world according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index.

Musk’s personal wealth skyrocketed an extra US$10.6 billion ($14.4 billion) after a secondary share sale by investors, announced last week, valued the space company over US$100 billion ($136 billion), CNBC reported.

Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, follows Musk with a net worth of US$191.6 billion ($260.7 billion). Musk tweeted a second place medal at Bezos early today.

Thanks to both Musk’s Tesla shares and his majority stake in privately-held SpaceX, where he serves as CEO, Musk has accumulated vast wealth.

Musk gained US$8.6 billion ($11.7 billion) since Friday’s closing and more than US$52 billion ($70.7 billion) year-to-date, the Bloomberg Billionaires Index says.
Tesla shares are also climbing, as they recover from a rocky year. They are up 13 per cent year-to-date, far less than its 743 per cent gain in 2020. Still, that’s a big improvement from when they were down 22 per cent for the year in May.

Musk got $0 in pay in 2020, according to a company filing, but he did receive stock options during the year that are now worth US$22 billion ($29.9 billion). And those options are worth far more due to the rise in stock price.

Bezos, who founded Blue Origin in 2000, and billionaire Virgin-brands owner Richard Branson, both traveled to space last summer.

A June ProPublica report found that some billionaires, including Elon Musk, Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos, pay minimal income tax compared to the vast majority of Americans, despite their immense wealth. Nothing revealed in the report was illegal.

Meanwhile, the US economy is still recovering from the Covid-19 recession. Median household income fell 2.9 per cent in 2020 to US$67,521 ($91,902), the first statistically significant decline since 2011.

September’s job report marked the second straight month in which the economy added far fewer jobs than expected.

Advancing Fashion’s Future—Ecoolska’s Digital Fashion Collection

Grounded in sustainable practices, Ecoolska restyled sustainable fashion with an innovative twist: digital fashion. Their Spring/Summer 22’ fashion show “RETHINK YOUR FUTURE” displays the brand’s most recent collection of virtual clothing. Created to reduce waste, Ecoolska’s Spring/Summer collection provides a solution to overconsumption and overproduction through providing clothing that is produced and worn digitally.

Ecoolska’s founder, Olga Skazkina, is amazingly creative and dedicated to taking care of the environment. She was inspired to create her brand while reading the book Planet Full of Plastic to her children. When her children asked questions regarding why plastic ends up in the ocean, she discovered that she didn’t want her profession in fashion to hurt the environment. So, she developed Ecoolska.

“The main goal of our sustainable fashion brand Ecoolska is to make a peaceful revolution in the fashion industry and change its economy from linear to cyclical,” Olga said.

Ecoolska’s new collection, “RETHINK YOUR FUTURE,” showcases the brand’s high potential to meet that goal. During the show, viewers watch the progression of a changing future. First presented is a grim scene, where models struggle to strut down a runway surrounded by garbage. Halfway through the show, however, the scene changes for the better; it becomes clean and bright because humanity has learned to appreciate nature.

“I believe in a great future because people are becoming more conscious and changing their habits from overconsumption to ecological habits,” Olga said.

Olga also said that she was inspired by her mission to encourage others to create and consume sustainably. “We need a technological breakthrough, innovations that do not consume resources,” Olga said. Ecoolska’s digital fashion collection is one of those breakthroughs as it does not require the consumption of materials.

Newcastle United Sale is Finally a Done Deal

The move signalled the end of a long-running takeover saga that the majority of the club’s supporters desired, but was stymied by the Premier League’s failure to give regulatory approval.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) withdrew a 305 million pound ($567.87 million) bid to buy the north-east club from owner Mike Ashley 14 months ago as a result of that lack of regulatory approval.

After the Premier League confirmed the struggling club had been sold to a consortium consisting of PIF, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media with immediate effect, fans began celebrating outside the St James’ Park stadium.

A statement from Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the governor of PIF who will become non-executive chairman of Newcastle United, said the deal would mean long-term investment to “harness the club’s potential and build upon the club’s legacy.

“We are extremely proud to become the new owners of Newcastle United, one of the most famous clubs in English football,” he said.

“We thank the Newcastle fans for their tremendously loyal support over the years and we are excited to work together with them.”

The takeover, fronted by PCP Capital Partners’ chief executive Amanda Staveley, ends an unhappy era at St James’ Park and means Newcastle will be one of the world’s richest clubs.

Ms Staveley will have a seat on Newcastle’s board of directors along with Jamie Reuben of RB Sports & Media.

“This is a long-term investment,” Ms Staveley said in a statement.

“Our ambition is aligned with the fans — to create a consistently successful team that’s regularly competing for major trophies and generates pride across the globe.”

A rapid sequence of events reignited the deal after Qatar-based broadcaster beIN Sports, a Premier League rights holder, said that Saudi Arabia would lift a ban on it and also shut down illegal streaming services, removing a major obstacle behind the collapsed takeover.

Another stumbling block was overcome after the Premier League, which came under pressure to block the deal last year, received “legally binding” assurances that there was a clear separation between PIF and the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, despite PIF being chaired by the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

“All parties are pleased to have concluded this process which gives certainty and clarity to Newcastle United Football Club and their fans,” the Premier League said.

The fate of Newcastle coach Steve Bruce will be high on the agenda of the new owners, who are keen to invest in the club.

“I know everybody has a lot of questions about managers and players and things but right now we just want to get there and do a review of the business. We’re going to let you all know the plans,” Ms Staveley told reporters after the deal was announced.

Hundreds of Newcastle’s so-called Toon Army supporters, who have protested against Mr Ashley’s running of the club, gathered outside the stadium in the drizzle throughout the day, buoyed by news of the imminent takeover.

While they were celebrating, others said it was another example of Saudi Arabia “sportswashing”.

Saudi Arabia’s $US430-billion ($588.2 billion) sovereign wealth fund — is at the centre of plans to transform the economy by creating new sectors and diversifying revenues away from oil.

The country has increasingly sought high-profile sports assets, including signing a 10-year deal to stage F1 and hosting an Anthony Joshua world heavyweight title fight in 2019.

Having a club with Newcastle’s potential in its locker is a major scoop for the oil-rich nation.

But Amnesty UK chief executive, Sacha Deshmukh said the Saudi authorities were “sportwashing their appalling human rights record with the glamour of top-flight football.

“Instead of allowing those implicated in serious human rights violations to walk into English football simply because they have deep pockets, we’ve urged the Premier League to change their owners’ and directors’ test to address human rights issues,” he added.

Saudi Arabia’s government denies allegations of human rights abuses and says it is protecting national security from extremists and external actors.

Newcastle become the 14th current Premier League club to have majority foreign owners and fans hope it heralds a new era like that at Manchester City who have dominated English football since being bought by Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Mansour in 2008.

French club Paris St-Germain have also made an impact under Qatari ownership with a host of mega-money signings.

Newcastle’s takeover ends the 14-year ownership of Mr Ashley whose stewardship has been deeply unpopular, with the supporters accusing him of under-investment and lack of ambition.

Since Mr Ashley bought the sleeping giants, who last won a domestic trophy in 1955 and have not been top-flight champions since 1927, they have twice been relegated from the Premier League and have not finished higher than 10th since 2012.

Another relegation battle is looming with the team failing to win any of their opening seven league games and currently sitting second from bottom of the table.

Fans have been calling for Mr Ashley and manager Bruce to leave the club.

Tanzanian Novelist Wins Nobel Prize in Literature for Portraying Fate of Refugees

Abdulrazak Gurnah wins Nobel Prize in Literature for portraying fate of refugees
Judges praised Abdulrazak Gurnah’s ‘compassionate penetration of the effects of colonialism’

His most recent work, Afterlives, was published in 2020 and takes up where Paradise left off. Speaking to The National last year, he described it as a portrayal of the effects of colonialism.

“I’m still taking it in,” he said in a call with Nobel organisers, moments after winning the prize.

“It’s both the pleasure of making things, crafting, getting it right, but it’s also the pleasure of getting something across,” he said of his work. Asked if he felt joy in writing, he joked: “I feel joy when I’ve finished.”

Mr Gurnah was born on the island of Zanzibar in what is now Tanzania, but fled for Britain to escape the persecution of Arabs in the 1960s. He wrote in English despite Swahili being his first language.

He left his family in Tanzania and could not return until 1984 to see his father, who died shortly afterwards.

“Gurnah’s dedication to truth and his aversion to simplification are striking,” said Anders Olsson, the chairman of the Nobel committee.

“An unending exploration driven by intellectual passion is present in all his books, and equally prominent now, in Afterlives, as when he began writing as a 21-year-old refugee.”

Mr Gurnah’s first novel, Memory of Departure, was published in 1987. As well as writing books, he taught English and literature at the University of Kent, until his recent retirement.

“We are absolutely delighted that our former lecturer Abdulrazak Gurnah has been awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature – truly inspirational,” the university said.

The literature prize is the fourth to be handed out in this year’s Nobel season after the medicine, physics and chemistry honours. The peace prize will be awarded on Friday.

While the others have been shared, the literature prize typically goes to a single person. Mr Gurnah will take the full jackpot of 10 million crowns ($1.14m).

Previous literature winners include the novelist Ernest Hemingway, the singer Bob Dylan and Britain’s wartime leader Winston Churchill, who wrote multi-volume books about the First and Second World Wars.

Mark Zuckerberg’s Open Letter

Facebook, and WhatsApp users experienced a rather strange disruption with their choice social media platforms. This caused a lot of panic which was widely expressed by vast users after the active return to normalcy.

On the event of this, the CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg via his social handles, made open a letter to address the situation as he deemed it fit. Here’s the note below.

“I wanted to share a note I wrote to everyone at our company.

Hey everyone: it’s been quite a week, and I wanted to share some thoughts with all of you.

First, the SEV that took down all our services yesterday was the worst outage we’ve had in years. We’ve spent the past 24 hours debriefing how we can strengthen our systems against this kind of failure. This was also a reminder of how much our work matters to people. The deeper concern with an outage like this isn’t how many people switch to competitive services or how much money we lose, but what it means for the people who rely on our services to communicate with loved ones, run their businesses, or support their communities.

Second, now that today’s testimony is over, I wanted to reflect on the public debate we’re in. I’m sure many of you have found the recent coverage hard to read because it just doesn’t reflect the company we know. We care deeply about issues like safety, well-being and mental health. It’s difficult to see coverage that misrepresents our work and our motives. At the most basic level, I think most of us just don’t recognize the false picture of the company that is being painted.

Many of the claims don’t make any sense. If we wanted to ignore research, why would we create an industry-leading research program to understand these important issues in the first place? If we didn’t care about fighting harmful content, then why would we employ so many more people dedicated to this than any other company in our space — even ones larger than us? If we wanted to hide our results, why would we have established an industry-leading standard for transparency and reporting on what we’re doing? And if social media were as responsible for polarizing society as some people claim, then why are we seeing polarization increase in the US while it stays flat or declines in many countries with just as heavy use of social media around the world?

At the heart of these accusations is this idea that we prioritize profit over safety and well-being. That’s just not true. For example, one move that has been called into question is when we introduced the Meaningful Social Interactions change to News Feed. This change showed fewer viral videos and more content from friends and family — which we did knowing it would mean people spent less time on Facebook, but that research suggested it was the right thing for people’s well-being. Is that something a company focused on profits over people would do?

The argument that we deliberately push content that makes people angry for profit is deeply illogical. We make money from ads, and advertisers consistently tell us they don’t want their ads next to harmful or angry content. And I don’t know any tech company that sets out to build products that make people angry or depressed. The moral, business and product incentives all point in the opposite direction.

But of everything published, I’m particularly focused on the questions raised about our work with kids. I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on the kinds of experiences I want my kids and others to have online, and it’s very important to me that everything we build is safe and good for kids.

The reality is that young people use technology. Think about how many school-age kids have phones. Rather than ignoring this, technology companies should build experiences that meet their needs while also keeping them safe. We’re deeply committed to doing industry-leading work in this area. A good example of this work is Messenger Kids, which is widely recognized as better and safer than alternatives.
Improves viagra samples vigor, vitality and strength. Modern busy life has made the life so much busy that we can’t make sex properly viagra properien discover for info and we feel frustrated when we can’t make our partner happy. Why do we have two of them? Surely we could breathe in more air in a single breath if we had just one, large nasal orifice cialis buy cialis (a “monostril”, perhaps)? The human body tends to be faced by a person when they generally fail to have proper erections while his love making session. He is the one who has to face unavailability levitra 20mg price of erection or difficulty in achieving an erection.

We’ve also worked on bringing this kind of age-appropriate experience with parental controls for Instagram too. But given all the questions about whether this would actually be better for kids, we’ve paused that project to take more time to engage with experts and make sure anything we do would be helpful.

Like many of you, I found it difficult to read the mischaracterization of the research into how Instagram affects young people. As we wrote in our Newsroom post explaining this: “The research actually demonstrated that many teens we heard from feel that using Instagram helps them when they are struggling with the kinds of hard moments and issues teenagers have always faced. In fact, in 11 of 12 areas on the slide referenced by the Journal — including serious areas like loneliness, anxiety, sadness and eating issues — more teenage girls who said they struggled with that issue also said Instagram made those difficult times better rather than worse.”

But when it comes to young people’s health or well-being, every negative experience matters. It is incredibly sad to think of a young person in a moment of distress who, instead of being comforted, has their experience made worse. We have worked for years on industry-leading efforts to help people in these moments and I’m proud of the work we’ve done. We constantly use our research to improve this work further.

Similar to balancing other social issues, I don’t believe private companies should make all of the decisions on their own. That’s why we have advocated for updated internet regulations for several years now. I have testified in Congress multiple times and asked them to update these regulations. I’ve written op-eds outlining the areas of regulation we think are most important related to elections, harmful content, privacy, and competition.

We’re committed to doing the best work we can, but at some level the right body to assess tradeoffs between social equities is our democratically elected Congress. For example, what is the right age for teens to be able to use internet services? How should internet services verify people’s ages? And how should companies balance teens’ privacy while giving parents visibility into their activity?

If we’re going to have an informed conversation about the effects of social media on young people, it’s important to start with a full picture. We’re committed to doing more research ourselves and making more research publicly available.

That said, I’m worried about the incentives that are being set here. We have an industry-leading research program so that we can identify important issues and work on them. It’s disheartening to see that work taken out of context and used to construct a false narrative that we don’t care. If we attack organizations making an effort to study their impact on the world, we’re effectively sending the message that it’s safer not to look at all, in case you find something that could be held against you. That’s the conclusion other companies seem to have reached, and I think that leads to a place that would be far worse for society. Even though it might be easier for us to follow that path, we’re going to keep doing research because it’s the right thing to do.

I know it’s frustrating to see the good work we do get mischaracterized, especially for those of you who are making important contributions across safety, integrity, research and product. But I believe that over the long term if we keep trying to do what’s right and delivering experiences that improve people’s lives, it will be better for our community and our business. I’ve asked leaders across the company to do deep dives on our work across many areas over the next few days so you can see everything that we’re doing to get there.

When I reflect on our work, I think about the real impact we have on the world — the people who can now stay in touch with their loved ones, create opportunities to support themselves, and find community. This is why billions of people love our products. I’m proud of everything we do to keep building the best social products in the world and grateful to all of you for the work you do here every day.”

Haiti’s Election Halted Until Next Year

Haiti prime minister says elections, referendum to be held next year.

Haiti’s prime minister said Tuesday that he plans to hold a referendum to modify the country’s constitution by February, and he hopes to organize presidential and legislative elections early next year.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Ariel Henry dismissed opponents who accuse him of wanting to stay in power and said that mistrust is one of the biggest challenges he faces.

Henry said the referendum is a priority because the current constitution is rejected by a majority of political figures and civil society leaders. He also said an electoral council that will be responsible for setting dates has yet to be named after he recently dissolved the previous provisional council.

“The elections must be held as soon as possible,” he said as he lamented the lack of trust among Haitians. “People don’t believe what is being said.”

After being postponed several times this year, presidential and legislative elections were scheduled to be held Nov. 7, along with the constitutional referendum. But the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse at his private home on July 7 upended those plans.

Henry also criticized how the U.S. government recently treated Haitian migrants along the U.S.-Mexico border, where it expelled more than 2,300. He said that action was not “suitable.”

“We don’t understand the way that our compatriots were treated,” he said.

Henry’s comments came just hours before the arrival in Port-au-Prince of Assistant Secretary of State Brian Nichols, the top U.S. diplomat to Latin America, who is seeking to contain the fallout from the abrupt resignation last week of the U.S. special envoy to Haiti.

Daniel Foote, a career diplomat, quit the high-profile post over the deportations at the border, saying it was inhumane to return the migrants, many of whom fled the island following the devastating 2010 earthquake, to a country buffeted by gang violence, a collapsed economy and political turmoil.

Foote, in his resignation letter, also criticized the U.S. for standing by what he considers a “corrupt government with gang alliances” instead of embracing a broad-based coalition of civil society groups that have come up with their own blueprint for stabilizing the country.

Henry declined to comment on Foote’s resignation, saying it was a foreign affair, but he said he does not think the situation will affect the relationship between the U.S. and Haiti, which he said would continue and deepen.

Ntivestoe i prime minister says elections, referendum to be held next year

— Haiti’s prime minister said Tuesday that he plans to hold a referendum to modify the country’s constitution by February, and he hopes to organize presidential and legislative elections early next year.

Henry declined to comment on Foote’s resignation, saying it was a foreign affair, but he said he does not think the situation will affect the relationship between the U.S. and Haiti, which he said would continue and deepen.

Henry added that the government is working on a draft of a potential program to help the thousands of migrants who have been expelled. He said one proposal is to give the migrants access to credit so they can launch their own small businesses.

“We’re trying to do that immediately,” he said.

Another priority is to find the masterminds behind Moïse’s killing. Henry said he does not know why the president was slain. He also dismissed allegations made by a chief prosecutor — whom he fired — that there were two phone calls between him and a key suspect just hours after the assassination.

Henry said he has no recollection of speaking with Joseph Badio, who was fired from the government’s anti-corruption unit in May and remains a fugitive, according to police, who seek him on charges including murder.

“If that conversation took place, I do not remember it,” he said. “For me, that conversation never happened.”

Henry said he dismissed Port-au-Prince’s chief prosecutor, Bed-Ford Claude, and former Justice Minister Rockfeller Vincent, because they did not respect the law and tried to politicize the situation.

“They don’t have any ethics, and they are not credible,” he said.

R. Kelly To Spend The Rest Of His Life In Jail.

R&B superstar R. Kelly has been convicted on all counts on Monday after a jury found him guilty of being the ringleader of a decades-long racketeering and sex trafficking scheme preying on underage girls, young men, and women.

The disgraced singer, who exploited his superstar status to sexually abuse black women, men, and children, is said to face the rest of his life in jail for crimes including violating the Mann Act, an anti-sex trafficking law that prohibits taking anyone across state lines “for any immoral purpose”.

After two days of deliberation, the federal court in New York City found Kelly guilty on all nine counts, after decades of avoiding criminal responsibility for numerous allegations of misconduct.

Acting US attorney Jacquelyn Kasulis announced the verdict on September 27, saying that “justice was finally served.”

“Today’s guilty verdict forever brands R. Kelly as a predator who used his fame and fortune to prey on the young, the vulnerable, and the voiceless for his own sexual gratification. A predator who used his inner circle to ensnare underage girls, young men, and women for decades in a sordid web of sex abuse, exploitation, and humiliation,” Kasulis added.

Prosecutors alleged that the entourage of the 54-year-old singer, born Robert Sylvester Kelly, who helped him meet girls – and keep them obedient and quiet – amounted to a criminal enterprise.

Two people have been charged with Kelly in a separate federal case pending in Chicago.

One of the producers of the show, Tamra Simmons, said she felt “a ball of emotions” come over her upon hearing the verdict.

“I’m just so happy to see them receive the justice that they have been seeking for all these years.”

Herself and fellow producer Jesse Daniels have been vocally against the “seperating the art from the artist” argument used by the singer’s fans to defend him. This recently reemerged in the wake of Drake giving the singer a credit on TSU, a song from his latest album “Certified Lover Boy”.

“I honestly feel like, you know, you can, you can’t separate him from his music and the fact that he’s the King and of R&B and everything like that, like that doesn’t matter when it comes to Black women and Black men being violated.

“It doesn’t matter to me. You’re not, you were never a King. We gave you that title and we’re taking it back,” said Simmons.

R. Kelly has been jailed without bail since 2019. The New York case is only part of the legal peril facing the singer.

He also has pleaded not guilty to sex-related charges in Illinois and Minnesota. Trial dates in those cases have yet to be set.
